TDY to Curacao
Jan 27th thru Feb 10th 2001
This TDY trip wasn't all work, we did have some play time. Curacao is a
tourist Island for those from the Netherlands and is part of the ABC Islands
Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao (pronounced: cure-a-cell).
We (the 115th FW and 115th AGS) were here to participate in "Coronet
Night Hawk"  a drug interdiction/ surveillence mission to track planes or boats
trying to make their way into the US with their cargo of illegal drugs.
Our place of  stay was at the Holiday Beach Hotel and Casino on the
South end of the Island, west of the port of Punta.
The Island is constantly in the 80's with a 15 mph wind blowing from the
East.  The time zone is Alantic, which is two hours ahead of Central Time Zone.
It manages to rain somewhere on the Island every day.  It is still considered an
arid climate.  The terrain is hilly, with the vegetation primarily being cactus.
The beaches are beautiful.  There are a lot of good snorkeling and scuba
diving spots.  I was able to get some snorkeling in myself.
