Punta / Willemstad is a busy port for tourism. It is the only natural bay that can be used for shipping on the island. What is not seen, is the refineries which are located further up the channel.
Most of the cruise ships are from Netherlands with their Dutch passengers. There are some tourist that are from the U.S
.
Lifestyle Disclaimer: The above web site is listed solely because of my interest in watching CNN's "Burden of Proof " and seeing her missing persons case being mentioned during the coverage of Chandra Levy.
The bay has a floating foot bridge that can swing to the side when a big cruise ship comes into port. This bridge doesn't seem float worthy to swing open and close, but it does everyday.
The buildings are all painted a color that makes each building unique or individually different from the others. The owners of each building has copyright for their design and color that no one else can copy.
The docks on either side of the bay have vendors waiting for another ship to come in so they can sell their items of trade. One vender was selling Ostrich eggs that were hand painted with unique designs on them.
One of the shops along one of the back alleys was a clothing shirt/sweater shop. They had black T-shirts with a "Coronet Night Hawk" emblem on the front of it. While we are here we are not suppose to look too American (as in military personel), but like tourist. So, I saved my Coronet Night Hawk shirt until I arrived home.
One local has his three iguana's ready for a tourist's photo taking. He was pretty defensive when some one would try to take a picture without paying. He was protecting his lively hood.
No accidents occured during this picture taking. I'm sure that they occur once in a while.
